J/99
The J/99 is the newest addition to the J Sport range, combining headroom and comfortable interior accommodation with the tiller-driven responsiveness of a sport boat. The sail and deck plan are optimized for easy handling with fewer crew, and incorporate the latest developments from the award-winning J/121 and the new Offshore Sailing World champion J/112E.
Pauger Carbon was approached by J/99′ owner to prepare the complete carbon package, which includes:
- High-modulus weight 37kg (155 x 86 mm), carbon masthead with extra long overhang;
- Mast full length: 15 740 mm;
- High-strength regular carbon fiber pre-preg boom (190 x 85mm) – 4550 mm length – 11 kg;
- Light-weight Pauger Carbon Vang complete weight: 2 kg (including dyneema purchase 5:1)
- Pauger – BSI/Blue Wave complete Carbon system including captang, terminals and turnbuckles, V1 size: 7,4mm with the weight save of 7,4kg.
- Karver KMH2 internal lock
- Reckmann-Holmatro external Hydraulic Mast Jack system
- Outhaul purchase 8:1 system in boom with low friction rings
- Rod forestay with BSI turnbuckle
WHY CARBON FIBER?
Upgrading your mast from aluminium to carbon is a huge performance gain. Weight saving will be ~45-35%.
However, you can go further…
Choose high-modulus carbon fiber! You can trim an additional ~10-15% weight from the standard carbon mast weight. Plus smaller mast section.
Choose carbon standing rigging! ~75% weight saving from the Nitronic50 rod cable weight
Choose a carbon boom! ~35% weight saving from the aluminium boom weight
Choose the carbon boom vang! ~50% weight saving from the aluminium vang weight
